Francis S. Makos
Family Law Attorney

Southeastern Pennsylvania ◊ New Jersey

If you are considering filing for divorce, you need a lawyer who will help you understand your options, the challenges you will face and the likelihood of accomplishing your objectives. If you have built a significant estate, or if you are just starting to build your net worth, you want clear direction on how to protect your assets and preserve your wealth.

I represent clients throughout southeastern Pennsylvania and the adjoining counties in New Jersey. I take the same approach to the practice of law that I took as a state trooper: I provide honest, straightforward and no-nonsense advice regarding your family law or criminal defense matters. Contact me for a free initial consultation.

In my family law practice, I work with clients at all stages of a marital dissolution, from the initial filing through trial and post-judgment requests for modification of divorce decrees. Though I prepare every case as if it will go to trial, I will negotiate a settlement or represent your interests in mediation, if that is the best way to meet your objectives.

I handle all matters arising out of a divorce, including child custody, visitation, child support, alimony/spousal support and the equitable distribution of marital property. I can help you understand the differences between legal and physical custody and help you craft a visitation schedule that takes into consideration the unique needs of your minor children. I understand the Pennsylvania and New Jersey child support guidelines and will carefully review any proposed order or agreement to make certain that your rights are protected.

I also work with families to develop and implement effective estate plans. The primary purpose of estate planning is to provide for the orderly distribution of your estate upon your death. Estate planning can also minimize the tax burden on the estate and simplify the process for your heirs. Strategies that we can explore include the joint ownership of certain property, the creation of a trust to hold property and the preparation of estate planning documents, such as wills, powers of attorney and health care directives, to specify how matters will be handled at your death.

Contact my office to set up a free initial consultation. I accept all major credit cards and can set up payment plans with qualified clients. Evening and weekend appointments are available upon request.
